Lisa Mycka (maiden name
Lisa Marie Mezzetta) was born in Brooklyn, New York, where she
lived until the age of eight, at which time she moved with her
family to Boynton Beach, Florida. It was here that Lisa began
her life-long fascination and love of nature and the ocean.
After graduating from
High School, Lisa moved to Baltimore, Maryland to attend the
Maryland Institute, College of Art, studying fine art and illustration.
Lisa began her art career as a staff and freelance illustrator,
creating renderings for the seasonal decor and entertainment
industry. After moving to Southern California, Lisa began focusing
on her fine art career, working in acrylic and oil paint and
exploring the many ocean and nature themes that have always stirred
her imagination.
Lisa's work combines the
visual exploration of the world around her with the desire to
show the patterns and design elements that exist in nature. The
goal is to reveal the abstract within the real, distilling nature
into the fundamental shapes, colors, and patterns that lie beneath
the details we see with our eyes and through our digital cameras.
At the heart of Lisa's paintings is the never-ending quest to
capture the deeper truth of the world we see and reveal its simplicity
and elemental beauty.
Lisa is currently living
and working in Marin County, California (north of San Francisco) with her husband
Dan, son Tyler, numerous pets, and the many rescued spiders.
